In 1876 the school was identified as #5.  The number was changed to #13 in 1882.  It was assigned the letter "M" in 1897.  Prior to 1911 a house was rented from Philip Burg to educate black children in St. Matthews.  The school moved to a house rented from Theresa Seiler in 1911.  At the school's closing, the children were transported to Dorsey Chapel "L".  Another note indicates the school was consolidated with "S" (Worthington).
