The Twelfth Ward School was renamed in 1916 in honor of its longtime principal, Frederick T. Salisbury. Following the school's closure in 1963, the property was sold to the state of Kentucky. Byck Elementary succeeded the Bond School and the Salisbury School, which closed when Byck opened.
