The school was located on the east side of Old National Turnpike about 1 1/2 miles northeast of Fairdale. Originally the South Park Colored School, it was renamed for philanthropist Julius Rosenwald at his death in 1932. Rosenwald assisted black schools nationally, including several in the Louisville area. The school closed in 1953 and it was consolidated with Newburg. The property was sold to Beechmont Baptist Church and the building was later demolished.
