Shippingport School's previous address was "North of Canal."  It was located on Tarascon Avenue circa 1914. Lizzie Straub served as the principal and sole teacher for the school from 1923 to the school's closing. Shippingport School closed on March 24, 1933, due to a flood and did not reopen. Its students and teacher were assigned to Dolfinger School.
