Archives Closed Schools Q-S: Special School for Boys

Other Name: Salisbury School; Special School; Parkland Junior High School

Last Address: Twenty-fifth and Wilson Streets

Year Opened: 1928

Year Closed: 1946

When the original Special School at Sixth and Kentucky streets closed, a new school called Special School for Boys opened in the Salisbury School building at 2204 West Magazine Street.  It presumably continued the education of "troublesome boys," who comprised the original school's student body.  Circa 1934 the school relocated to Parkland Junior High School.
