The school was originally a one-room school.  Sometime between 1909 and 1915 at least one more room was added.  The school was consolidated with Melbourne Heights and the original Alex R. Kennedy schools in 1926.  The school retained the first three grades until 1927.  The property was sold by the Jefferson County Public Schools in 1927 to George Hartman.  It opened as the Air Devils Inn in 1934, following the end of Prohibition, and may be the oldest continuous bar in Louisville.  The building still retains a schoolbell tower.
