Myers was named for Mary Pulliam Myers. Ms. Myers, one-time superintendent of the Hikes Graded Independent School, served for many years as a JCPS administrator in Pupil Personnel. Myers was built to relieve crowding at Seneca High School and was located for most of its history at 3741 Pulliam Drive. It added the sixth grade to relieve surrounding elementaries. In 2014 the school offered seventh and eighth grades only and relocated to a section of the Waggener High School building. The Phoenix School of Discovery and early childhood classes moved to the former Myers facility. In 2015 ESL Newcomer Academy opened a temporary satellite site in the former Myers facility. Myers closed with the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
