Other Name: James Russell Lowell School; East Highland Park School
Last Address: 4501 Crittenden Drive
Year Opened: 1925

The school, formerly the East Highland Park School, was renamed in honor of American poet James Russell Lowell in 1925. The school had joined the Louisville Public Schools, following Highland Park's annexation by the city of Louisville in 1922. A major addition to the 1916 school building was constructed in 1932. The school's address was formerly Ashbottom Road. The school was closed and razed for airport expansion. Following the school's closing, its clock (along with one from Russell Junior High School) was used in the superintendent's office at VanHoose Education Center.
