Other Name: Fairdale School #81
Last Address: Mt. Holly Road
Year Opened: 1842
Year Closed: 1913
A log schoolhouse was built in 1842 on a farm owned by John Farmer. The school was built on a road originally called Manslick Road but later called Mt. Holly Road. The Mt. Holly Methodist Church met in the school building until a church was built. This school was succeeded by a frame building in 1875. An unnamed village formed in the area about 1881. In 1910 the village became Fairdale. The district was split five ways in 1913 resulting in new schools: Pine Grove, South Park, Berry, Mitchell Hill, and Fairdale. In 1928 these districts were merged back into one and a Fairdale Grade and High School succeeded the previous schools.
