The original building was destroyed by fire in 1911.  A new building opened in 1916.  The school was closed in 1928 and consolidated with Fairdale #17.  The building was auctioned in 1928.  The building was renovated and turned into a welcome center for the Jefferson County Memorial Forest in 1994.  Two restored classrooms are also open in the school building.
