The school was at one time also known as Stonestreet Academy.  Notes in the school history folder describe the school as "private" in its early days and a one-room school. It is also possible that the school was in its own district at one time. The school moved to its last address in 1916.  Its old school house and lot were sold to Charles M. Fisher in that year. In 1948 its seventh and eighth grades were transferred to Fern Creek High School. Along with several other smaller schools, Lovvorn was consolidated into Fern Creek Elementary in the 1950s.  The school building was demolished in 1973.  Another source gives its address at Old Cooper Chapel Road, near the Mount Washington road.
