Official Name: Lincoln Elementary School
Year Opened: 1966
Lincoln Elementary resulted from the merger of the Margaret Merker, George Washington, and Hiram Roberts Schools. A new building was constructed in 1966 on East Main for the new school. The school is named for the 16th U. S. President, who was a Kentucky native. In 2009 the school's name was changed to Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School. This name reflects the school's new focus as a performing arts magnet school, linked with the Youth Performing Arts School and a prospective middle arts magnet school.
