Official Name: Johnsontown Elementary School
Year Opened: 1967
Johnsontown Road Elementary was built to relieve overcrowding of elementary schools in the Valley Station-Pleasure Ridge Park area of Jefferson County. Its ten-acre site was purchased from the family of local restaurateur Mike Linnig. The name comes from a road created for an early settlement called Johnsontown. Following its construction, the school was briefly used in 1967 to house first year classes from Wilkerson Elementary. It opened as Johnsontown Road Elementary that fall.
