Other Name: Alice Waller Elementary; Waller-Williams Environmental School; Willoughby Special School

Last Address: 6601 Dixie Highway

Year Opened: 1986

Year Closed: 1998

Waller Environmental School opened in 1986 in the building initially housing Waller Elementary in Pleasure Ridge Park, named for Alice Waller, a longtime teacher at Kerrick School.  Willoughby Special School preceded Waller Environmental in the school building, closing in 1983.  Waller Environmental was a special school for students with severe and profound emotional and, or behavioral disabilities.  With the closing of Williams Middle School in 1998 when the new Farnsley Middle School opened, Waller Environmental moved to Williams' location at 2415 Rockford Lane and became Waller-Williams Environmental School, also honoring former principal David "Pat" Williams.  The old Waller Elementary building was auctioned and razed.  A Lowe's Home Improvement store was built on the site.
