Official Name: Watson Lane Elementary School

Year Opened: 1956

Watson Lane Elementary School is located in Valley Station in southwest Jefferson County. It was built to succeed the old Kosmosdale School. Watson Lane initially opened in the Medora Elementary building in afternoon sessions in the fall of 1956 since construction delays prevented occupation of its school building. The school moved to its facility in January 1957. The old Kosmosdale school served as an annex until the construction of an addition in 1962, due to overcrowding. Another addition provided a new library media center in 1999.
