This school opened as a county school and it apparently was identified by various names:  West Market School, West Market Street School, and West Louisville School.  Its address was also noted as Market Street (south side) west of 38th Street at one time.  It was annexed to the city schools in 1913 after the area was annexed by the city.  It closed soon after being taken over by the city.
