The school began as a one-room school.  The first building was succeeded by a new one in 1919.  Two additions were made over the years, one in 1953 and the other in 1962.  The school closed in 1978.  Valley School for the Trainable Mentally Handicapped (later Willoughby Special School) opened in the building in 1978.  Later the property was sold and Southwest Christian School occupied the building.  In 1991 the building was sold again to James E. Culver, the son of a former pupil, Clifford Culver. James Culver moved the Culver Insurance Agency to the building.
