The Johns School was a two-room elementary school. The school was named for Mrs. Rector Johns, who donated a house on Crittenden Drive (then Ashbottom Road) for the school. When a second room was added to the house in 1928, rent was paid to Mrs. Johns for that room. It became part of the Prestonia school district and its name was changed to Prestonia #2 in 1931. Following its closure, the school was converted into a service station. In 1994 the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center acquired the property and razed the school to widen the fairgrounds' gate 2.
