Archives Closed Schools G-J: Grammar School for Boys #3; Grammar School for Girls #7

Year Closed: 1852 circa

The city of Louisville opened additional schoolhouses in 1836 to supplement School #1 at Fifth and Walnut.  This building housed two grammar schools, one for boys and one for girls.  These schools were closed when new schools were built in wards established by the new city charter for Louisville in 1851.
