Last Address: 345 E. Woodlawn

Year Opened: 1898, prior to

Year Closed: 1956

This school was once in the Highland Park independent school district no. 46, as the community of Highland Park was once independent of Louisville.  Its address for most of its history was the northwest corner of Pocahontas Street and Park Boulevard.  At one time the school operated in a cottage rented from Whitney Nathan.  A new school was built in 1912 on two lots purchased from the Highland Park Land Agency.  The school moved to Woodlawn circa 1951.  Louisville annexed Highland Park in 1922 and the Louisville schools then assumed the administration of its schools.  This school was closed with the end of segregation in the Louisville schools and the Woodlawn property was sold in June 1956.
