This school was named for Edward Gottschalk, who served on the school board for many years. The school was previously located at 4615 Taylor Boulevard but took over the Southern Parkway site, formerly Rubado Elementary, when Iroquois High opened in the Taylor Boulevard building. An addition to the school building was constructed in 1966. The school was renamed Iroquois Junior High in 1973.
