"Colored Schools": Ninth Ward School

The school was built in 1853.  In 1894 Central Colored High School was moved to this building.  When Central High moved to Ninth and Chestnut, the Dunbar school moved to this building.  The 1887 Louisville city directory listed the school as a secondary school.
