Last Address: 10400 Shelby Street, Jeffersontown

Jeffersontown Colored School became Alexander-Ingram School in 1961, named in honor of Virginia Alexander, an early principal of the colored school, and Annie Ingram, a long-time teacher at the school.  The school closed and merged with Jeffersontown (J-town) Elementary in 1963, ending segregated education in Jefferson County.  The building was used as an annex to Jeffersontown Elementary from 1963 to 1965 and integrated classes were taught there.  It was used for storage by the District until 1976, when it was sold.  It later became the home of Standard Electric Company.  It is now owned by the First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown.
