The first principal for this school was Georgia G. Moore. It was originally located at Ninth and Magazine Streets. The school moved to Thirteenth and Green (later Liberty) Streets in 1916. In 1935 the school was located in the Coleridge Taylor school building at 1228 Liberty Street. In 1945 the school relocated again, going to the Charles Young School on Lytle Street.
