The school was located on the east side of Old National Turnpike about 1 1/2 miles northeast of Fairdale. It was renamed for philanthropist Julius Rosenwald at his death in 1932. Rosenwald assisted black schools nationally, including several in the Louisville area. The school was located in District X on property once owned by a family named Bradas.
