"Colored Schools": Talbert Open-Air Colored School

Talbert Open-Air Colored School

Last Address: Eighth and Kentucky Streets

Year Opened: 1924

Year Closed: 1933

The Talbert Open-Air School was located at Talbert School.  Mary B. Talbert was a prominent reformer and activist in anti-lynching and prison reform.  The open-air school presumably followed the same curriculum and plan as the original Audubon Open-Air School and apparently was opened to provide this schooling to black students.
