Official Name: Bowen Elementary School
Year Opened: 1969
Bowen Elementary was named for Albert E. Bowen, a local engineer and longtime member of the Jefferson County Board of Education. Students formerly assigned to Lyndon and Zachary Taylor elementaries were sent to Bowen when it opened. Bowen opened as a Stoddard school. This method of instruction used different size groupings for classes depending on the subject being taught. This method was discontinued in 1975.
