The school opened in a two-room building but later expanded to four rooms.  It opened as a county school but was transferred to the city schools when its area was annexed by the city of Louisville circa 1922. The school was damaged by fire in 1922.  In 1925 the school was named for educator Nannie Lee Frayser and it later moved to a new building.  The old school was rented for meetings and similar events.  In 1950 the Ninth and O Baptist Church purchased the property.  The building was used for Sunday school, day care, and other purposes.  The church later razed the old school and turned the property into a parking lot.
