The Fairdale School district was split five ways in 1913 resulting in new schools:  Pine Grove, South Park, Berry, Mitchell Hill, and Fairdale.  In 1928 these districts were merged back into one and a Fairdale Grade School succeeded the previous schools.  Pine Grove was built on a 1/4 acre lot donated by George W. Purcell.  The land was auctioned in 1928.
