Archives Closed Schools N-P: Primary Schools (Hope Engine House)

Year Closed: 1852 circa

Primary schools for boys and girls opened in the late 1840's in the former Hope Engine House on First Street, presumably a former fire house for a volunteer company.   This schoolhouse presumably closed when several new schools were constructed and opened following the adoption of a new city charter in 1851.
