The school began as a one-room building near the site of the first Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Okolona area.  An early student, William Rush, returned to teach at the school before becoming a physician in the community.  The school later added a second room.  At one time the address was listed as Old Manslick Road.  It closed in 1949 and its student body was consolidated with Okolona and Southern elementaries.  The property was auctioned in 1949.  The school building later became a residence.
