Official Name: Johnson Middle School

Year Opened: 1980

Parkland Middle School (formerly Parkland Junior High School) was renamed Lyman T. Johnson Middle School in 1980 for a prominent Louisville teacher and civil rights activist. Lyman Johnson formerly served as assistant principal at Parkland and was elected to the Jefferson County Board of Education.
