Archives Middle Schools: Barret

Official Name: Barret Middle School 

Year Opened: 1932

Barret Junior High opened in 1932. Originally named Crescent Hill Junior High, the school was renamed in honor of Alex G. Barret, a judge and member of the Louisville Board of Education. During the 1937 Ohio River flood, Barret served as a hospital and relief center for refugees. Barret changed from a junior high to a middle school in 1976. Barret became a traditional middle school in 1986.
