Official Name: Stonestreet Elementary School
Year Opened: 1958
The Stonestreet school district was formed by the consolidation of the Penile school district and portions of the Medora and Valley Elementary school districts in Valley Station. Following the school's opening in 1958, a four-classroom addition was constructed in 1963. The school was originally named for the road where it is located. In 1994 the school petitioned the board to change its name to honor Rosa Phillips Stonestreet, the first female superintendent of schools in Jefferson County history.
