Official Name: Sanders Elementary School
Year Opened: 1962
Sanders Elementary, which opened in 1962, is one of many elementary schools constructed in Jefferson County in the 1950's and 1960's. Max Sanders, for whom the school was named, was pastor of the Valley Christian Church for many years as well as a banker at Stock Yards Bank. The school was named for him in recognition of his civic activities.
