Official Name: Okolona High School 

Year Opened: 1924

Succeeding the Meadow Home School, Okolona School began as an eight-grade school on Preston Highway north of Markwell Lane. Its name reflected its location in the community of the same name. It later included all twelve grades. When Southern High opened in 1951, Okolona became a six-grade elementary school. A new school building was opened and dedicated in 1973 at the old school's site.
