Roosevelt-Perry Elementary School opened in 1980 when the Theodore Roosevelt School was moved to the former William H. Perry Sr. Elementary School in the Russell neighborhood of Portland. The new school was named in honor of the heritage of both former schools. Roosevelt-Perry adopted a year-round schedule in 2003. As part of a building renovation in 2010, the school's front entrance was relocated from 1606 Magazine Street to 1615 West Broadway.
