Valley High School opened in 1936 and was expanded in 1953 and again in 1973. In the early 1960's, Valley was the largest school in Kentucky. Valley's junior high division was phased out from 1979 to 1982 and the students were redistricted to Stuart Middle School. Valley became a traditional high school in 1999. In 2012 the school returned to its original name, Valley High School. In October 2012 Valley opened the J. C. Cantrell Arena, named for longtime Valley principal, teacher, and coach J. C. Cantrell. In August 2014 the Valley Preparatory Academy opened in Valley High, educating seventh and eighth grade students transferred from Frost Middle School when it became the Robert Frost Sixth-Grade Academy. Valley's history folder includes a copy of "The Early History of Valley Station, Kentucky," published by the Valley Woman's Club, which contains some information about early schools in the area. The history folder also has two photographs relating to the library from the early 1960's.
