Moore High School was named for Marion C. Moore, one of the four original counselors in the Jefferson County schools (county district) and also a former teacher. Moore became a traditional school in 1997. Moore High and Moore Middle School were managed under one administration starting in 2003. In 2005 they merged to become Moore Traditional School. The board changed the school's name to Marion C. Moore School in 2017.
