KAS Standard RI.2.1.: Ask and answer such QUESTIONS AS WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY AND HOW, and make and support logical inferences to construct meaning from the text.

VI.A.3.: Learners follow ethical and legal guidelines for gathering and using information by: Evaluating information for accuracy, validity, social and cultural context, and appropriateness for need.

 

 

KAS Standard RI.2.3.: Describe the connection between INDIVIDUALS, HISTORICAL EVENTS, SCIENTIFIC IDEAS OR CONCEPTS OR STEPS IN TECHNICAL PROCEDURES over the course of a text.

AASL Standards:

I.D.4.: Learners participate in an ongoing inquiry-based process by: Using reflection to guide informed decisions.

IV.B.4.: Learners gather information appropriate to the task by: Organizing information by priority, topic, or other systematic scheme.

 

KAS Standard RL.2.2.: Identify implicit and explicit information from a summary to determine the AUTHOR’S MESSAGE, LESSON LEARNED AND/OR MORAL, including but not limited to FABLES AND FOLKTALES FROM DIVERSE CULTURES.

AASL Standards:

I.B.3.:  Learners engage with new knowledge by following a process that includes: Generating products that illustrate learning.

II.B.2.: Learners adjust their awareness of the global learning community by:  Evaluating a variety of perspectives during learning activities. 

IV.D.3.: Learners select and organize information for a variety of audiences by: Openly communicating curation processes for others to use, interpret, and validate.

 

KAS Standard RL.2.3.: Describe how CHARACTERS in a story respond to MAJOR EVENTS AND CHALLENGES in order to make meaning of the story development.

AASL Standards:

I.A.2.:  Learners display curiosity and initiative by: Recalling prior and background knowledge as context for new meaning.

IV.D.1.:  Learners select and organize information for a variety of audiences by:  Performing ongoing analysis of and reflection on the quality, usefulness, and accuracy of curated resources.

KAS Standard RL.2.4.: Describe how words and phrases, including but not limited to REGULAR BEATS, ALLITERATION, RHYMES and/or REPEATED LINES, supply rhythm and shape meaning in a story, poem or song.
