KAS Standard RI.5.1.: QUOTE ACCURATELY FROM A TEXT when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.

AASL Standards:  

IV.D.1.: Learners select and organize information for a variety of audiences by: Performing ongoing analysis of and reflection on the quality, usefulness, and accuracy of curated resources.

KAS Standard RI.5.3.: Explain the relationships or interactions between INDIVIDUALS, EVENTS, IDEAS OR CONCEPTS IN A HISTORICAL, SCIENTIFIC OR TECHNICAL TEXT based on specific information over the course of a text.

I.D.4.:  Learners participate in an ongoing inquiry-based process by: Using reflection to guide informed decisions.

IV.B.4.: Learners gather information appropriate to the task by: Organizing information by priority, topic, or other systematic scheme.

KAS Standard RI. 5.4.: Determine the meaning of GENERAL ACADEMIC AND DOMAIN- SPECIFIC words or phrases in a GRADE- LEVEL TEXT, and analyze how those words and phrases shape meaning.

I.A.2.:  Learners display curiosity and initiative by: Recalling prior and background knowledge as context for new meaning.

I.D.4.:  Learners participate in an ongoing inquiry-based process by: Continually seeking knowledge. 

KAS Standard RI.5.10.: By the end of the year, flexibly use a variety of comprehension strategies (i.e., questioning, monitoring, visualizing, inferencing, summarizing, synthesizing, using prior knowledge, determining importance) to read, comprehend.

I.D.2.:  Learners participate in an ongoing inquiry-based process by: Engaging in sustained inquiry.

IV.B.3.: Learners gather information appropriate to the task by: Systematically questioning and assessing the validity and accuracy of information.
 
 

KAS Standard RL.5.3.: Compare/contrast CHARACTERS, SETTINGS OR EVENTS in a story or drama, using specific details to analyze their interaction over the course of the text.

I.D.4.:  Learners participate in an ongoing inquiry-based process by: Continually seeking knowledge. 

IV.D.3.: Learners select and organize information for a variety of audiences by: Openly communicating curation processes for others to use, interpret, and validate.

KAS Standard RL.5.4.: Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including but not limited to ALLUSIONS FOUND IN MYTHOLOGY, and analyze how those words and phrases shape meaning.

I.D.4.:  Learners participate in an ongoing inquiry-based process by: Continually seeking knowledge.

KAS Standard RL.5.7.: Analyze how VISUAL AND MULTIMEDIA ELEMENTS contribute to the meaning or tone of non-print texts.

III.B.1.: Learners participate in personal, social, and intellectual networks by: Using a variety of communication tools and resources.
