The Louisville Vocational Center was renamed the Detrick Vocational School in 1975.  The vocational school was closed in 1995 and McFerran Elementary School moved to the building.  It became McFerran Preparatory Academy.  The campus retained the Detrick name.  Detrick was a longtime member of the Louisville and Jefferson County school boards.  He operated the Scotty's Markets, which were named for him.
