Louisville Free Public Library Card

Getting a LFPL Library Card

Online Library Card Sign-Up

While all libraries are closed, LFPL is offering online library card sign up for residents of Louisville Metro.

  • Step 1: Fill out the online application form.
  • Step 2: To obtain your library card number, please call the Main Library’s Circulation Department at 502-574-1781 (Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.). We will also email your library card number to you.
  • Step 3: When we reopen, stop by any Louisville Free Library Location to pick up your library card. Online cards provide short-term access. For continued access, you will need to pick up your permanent library card by May 1st.

Renewing Your Library Card

Expiring library cards for existing patrons will be automatically renewed until June 1st.
