Policies and Procedures

Dixie Elementary Library Media Center provides opportunities for students to checkout materials on a regular basis.  Students must adhere to the following policies and procedures in order to maintain checkout privileges.

Student checkout usually begins the second full week of school and ends around the first week of May.

* Following winter break, kindergarten students may check out one Library book to take home.

* 1st - 2nd grade students may check out one item at a time.

* 3rd - 5th grade students may check out two books at at time.

Students check out their books for a period of one week. If they finish their books before the week is up or if they forget their books on library day, they may exchange them in the morning.

* Books may be returned in the book drop at the circulation desk during the student's library time or open checkout.

A book may be renewed if the student is not yet finished with it by the due date.

Students must return overdue books before additional books may be checked out.

* Students are required to pay for lost or damaged books.

* Overdue notices will be sent home twice a month to keep parents informed about late/missing books.

* Parents/guardians who have questions or concerns regarding the circulation policies and procedures should contact the media specialist.
