In June, 2016, I had the honor of attending the Library of Congress Summer Teacher Institute in Washington, D.C. My travel and expenses were funded through a fellowship with Fund for Teachers. This was the best professional development I have participated in second only to my National Board Certification journey. The educators at the Library of Congress are top-notch teachers and the strategies they utilized to teach about engaging with primary sources were thought provoking. I am excited to return to my school library program and share the resources and strategies with students and teachers.
