Other Name: "E" School, Colored School Division 2, Muir Chapel
Last Address: Gilland Road south of Shelbyville Road
Year Opened: 1898, prior to
Year Closed: 1937
The school was located in Eastwood in eastern Jefferson County. It operated in a rented building until the school board purchased it in 1912 and leased the land for ten years. The building purchased was apparently Muir Chapel, a former chapel of the A. M. E. (African Methodist Episcopal) Church. The chapel was located 1/2 mile from the state pike (presumably U. S. 60 or Shelbyville Road). Another building may have been constructed in the 1920's and the name became Eastwood. Eastwood's students were transported to Forest after its closing. The school was auctioned to W. B. Crosby.
