The Gilmore Library presents the Battle of the Books Competition!
What is Battle of the Books?
Battle of the Books is a competition for 1st through 5th grade students and will take place during school hours in the gym. This fun, game-show like competition encourages students to read. The team with the highest amount of points at the end of the game wins prizes. In grades 3rd through 5th, the winners of the grade level team battles against the other winner to win a class party.
Each battle team has one captain. The captain was chosen by their teammates or teacher.
How will the Battle Teams be selected?
From the beginning of the school year, students were encouraged to read a certain selection of children’s books referred to as “Battle Books”. The Battle Books are located in the library in a specific area and are checked out by students. In February, the students took a test based on these books. Seven students from each class with the highest scores were chosen to be on the Battle Team. Since your child was selected, it is very important that he/she is not absent on the two days of the competition. If you plan to move before the Battle of the Books competition, please inform Ms. Lakes a soon as possible.
