Carrithers was originally a one-room school.  It moved to a new building on land donated by Joseph Carrithers in 1922.  The old building and lot were sold in 1923.  The school won a prize in the 1922-23 school year for the greatest increase in attendance.  Carrithers was  consolidated with the Fisherville School in 1941.  Its property was sold at auction to C. O. Shake in November 1941.
