Bowman Field Elementary School began as a county school in 1947 and was transferred to the city system in 1950. It was located at Bowman Field airport in Louisville. Its school plant consisted of a former Army mess hall, a dispensary, and a gym. When this school closed, students transferred to Bloom, Longfellow, and Belknap Elementaries. The school and some other buildings on Bowman Field were razed by the Municipal Housing Commission.
