This class opened in 1914, a year after the first Atypical Class or School opened at Second and Gray streets.  In 1917 another class of this type opened as the Duncan Street Atypical Class at Seventeenth and Duncan Streets.  These classes were opened for students with disabilities, also classified as "atypical."
